Born and based in Barcelona, Cristian Sarmiento was always wondering about social issues that were happening around him so he started to discover new cultures and ways of living by joining volunteer programs in Spain and West Africa. In the meantime, he completed a University Degree in Marketing as well as a Postgraduate Degree in Photography.

Currently, his work is mainly focused on contemporary society issues and human rights , so he uses photography as a means of social awareness and divulgation through documentary-based storytelling. He carries out projects about nearby topics in collaboration with local entities, and he also works with non-profit organizations for cooperation and development abroad. In 2018 co-founded Foco Documentaries, an agency aimed towards the creation of documentary reports.

Furthermore, he has become a specialist on interior design and finest real estate photography. He combines his essays with work commissions for international companies.  Interiors portfolio
