Born (1986) and based in Barcelona, Cristian Sarmiento early began to feel creative curiosity as well as wondering about social issues that were happening around him. He started to discover new cultures and ways of living by joining volunteer programs around Spain and abroad, mostly in West Africa. In the meantime, he completed a University Degree in Marketing and a Postgraduate Degree in Photography.
Currently, his work is mainly focused on the human condition and its context, so he uses photography as a means of social awareness and divulgation through documentary-based storytelling. He also uses photography as an instrument of artistic expression to create photographic series, most of them characterized by its abstract and minimalist nature. His work has been published in contemporary art references such as Fubiz, Ignant or This isn’t happiness among others.
Furthermore, he has also become a specialist on interior design and finest real estate photography. He combines his essays with work commissions for international agencies.
